TEECH’S NOTES (compulsory reading before attempting this test) updated May 28th, 2011:

1. Although NOT fully scientifically developed originally, I personally feel that the original Reitz Gender Inventory was quite a useful systematic method to superficially explore the uncertain pre-transitional (male-to-female) gender dysphoria period.

2. This updated Reitz Test MIGHT help you to determine a reasonable self definition from which further action can intelligently be taken.

3. This updated test is designed to help individuals like you UNDERSTAND what their gender issues mean, and provides SUGGESTIONS on future action.

VERY IMPORTANT: Due to the length of the original Reitz Gender Inventory (with 65 test items in total) and the lengthy explanation of the final scores, I have chosen to divide this test into 10 different weblog postings (articles).

This is Part 01, which will be followed by Parts 02 to 05 (test item 1 to test item 65) and Parts 06 to 10  being the conclusions and explanations that MUST be read, for you to finally understand the significance of all your answers.

HOW DOES THE TEST WORK?

This test blends elements from many existing gender and sex identity resources with some original elements developed by J. D. Reitz (who is also a male-to-female transexual).

The test then calculates a score which will place the user in one of five RAW categories of gender status and provides an outline of suggested actions that the user might take with regard to that possible gender status.

WHO IS THIS TEST FOR?

This test is precisely and narrowly targeted to the male-to-female pre-operative, pre-transitional individual who is currently unsure of what they really want or who they really are.

This test is basically designed to help this type of individual specifically to begin to solidify a basic stance from which to seek additional assistance.

HOW DO I ATTEMPT THE TEST?

Answer all the questions in PART 02 to PART 05 of this series of postings honestly and accurately. The more honest your choices, the more accurate your result.

Some questions may be redundant distractors, some are used as validation tools, and others may seem odd or too obvious. All questions however exist for specific reasons.

WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER FINISHING THE WHOLE TEST?

This is a pen-and-paper test. So make sure you count your score for each question that you attempted. Total up the scores and assess your final total based on a pre-assigned (male) gender category in PART 06 to PART 10 of this series of postings.
